Being There for Those in Need
The HYGEIA Group hospitals actively participate in social actions and are constantly at the front line of social contribution initiatives, offering immediate response and support to our fellow citizens in need. We undertake daily initiatives and actions that aim to cover their basic needs.
Medical Centers/Clinics
- A defibrillator was donated to the Pramanta Medical Center, Ioannina (October 2015).
- Pharmaceuticals and medical supplies were sent to the island of Paros Medical Center (October 2014).
- An examination table was donated to the medical clinic on the remote island of Pserimos, as part of the ArGOODaki social contribution initiative launched by fast food chain Goody’s (February 2014).
- The medical clinic at the village Marathia, Trichonida, Aitoloakarnania, was equipped with: an examination table, office chairs and an X-ray viewing screen (April 2013).
- The first-aid clinic of the Laboratory for Special Professional Education & Training (EEEEK) of Irakleio, Attica, was fully stocked (May 2009).
- Equipment and basic necessities (medications, examination table, bandages, etc) were donated to the rural medical center of the Persinaioi Ilia Cultural Association (March 2008).
Retirement Homes
- A portable ECG machine and an oxygen concentrator were donated to the Naousa Retirement Home, while Y-Logimed, a member of HYGEIA Group, donated a portable suction device and medical supplies (May 2014).
- Medical supplies, medications and bed linen were donated to the island of Paros Retirement Home (May 2014).
- Food, beds and bedside tables were donated to Stegi Geronton, a retirement home in Athens (September 2013).
Associations & Public Bodies
- Two specially designed wheelchairs were donated to the Hellenic Paraplegic Association (January 2014).
- School bags were donated to the Friends of the Homeless Foundation Association, which were then distributed to children of underprivileged families (September 2013).
- A refrigerator was donated to the first guesthouse of the Heart of a Child Association in Piraeus (November 2012).
- Along with the volunteer actions organized by the HYGEIA Group employees in December 2012, HYGEIA further supported the Municipality of Perama. It donated kitchenware and two refrigerators to the social services department of the Municipality, and changed the tires on the municipal garbage trucks. It also donated €1,000 in super market vouchers to the local preschools.
- In partnership with the Greek Foreign Ministry and Health Ministry, HYGEIA responded to the request of the National Operations Center (EKEPY) and undertook to treat and hospitalize a 20-year-old Palestinian woman, the first casualty of war to arrive in Greece from the Gaza Strip. She had suffered multiple injuries to the entire body when her house was bombed (January 2009).
- Around 1600 free-of-charge Pap tests and breast scans were offered to women at the City of Athens medical centers, as part of the City’s prevention program (March 2008).
- Free-of-charge eye exams were offered to the residents of the Municipality of Stymfalia (January 2008).
- Thermoluminescent dosimeter equipment was donated to the Medical Physics Lab of the University of Athens Medical School . The equipment belonged to the Hospital’s Central Labs (May 2015).
- Financial aid for the Easter and Christmas Bazaar of Kyttaro, the Greek Cancer Survivors Association offered annually.
