Nuclear Medicine is a modern medical speciality that uses targeted radiopharmaceuticals for diagnostic and therapeutic purposes. The Nuclear Medicine Division at HYGEIA has two state-of-the-art gamma cameras that are connected to a lightning speed JetStream-type computer network, with highly sophisticated software and unlimited image processing capabilities.
The Division is equipped with a SPECT/CT gamma camera, the only one of its kind in the Attica region and one of few in the Greek territory, which provides high-quality, high-definition scintigraphies of the myocardium, thereby reducing false positive results. With the use of SPECT/CT in all myocardial blood flow studies, the low-dose radiation technique is used for absorption correction and the GATED SPECT protocol is used to examine mobility and thickening of the left ventricular walls.
HYGEIA’s Nuclear Medicine Division functions as a Reference Centre for Southern Europe and the Middle East
