2nd Internal Medicine & Infectious Diseases Department

The  2^nd Department of Medicine and Infectious Diseases of “Hygeia” Hospital, headed by Prof. Athanasios Skoutelis, is staffed by experienced and competent physicians with the specialties of Internal Medicine and Infectious Diseases.

The objectives and mandate of the Department are:

1. Diagnosis and treatment of patients with problems within the spectrum of Internal Medicine.
2. Diagnosis and treatment of all the cases of Infectious Diseases, from febrile diseases to difficult to treat infections.
3. Diagnosis, treatment and follow up of patients with chronic infections (HIV, viral hepatitis, etc).
4. Travel Medicine.
5. Infectious diseases prevention in different populations (vaccination, prophylaxis, immunocompromised patients).
6. Infection Control.

Moreover, emphasis is given to Continuous Medical Education and Medical Research (clinical trials, research protocols, etc).
