Hematology Department – Hemapheresis

The Hematology Department has existed at Hygeia hospital at least fifteen years with prior department leads, the memorable A.Papagiannis and Pr. Seitanidis B.

The daily routine consists of diagnosis treatment and follow-up of all diseases of the blood and mainly malignancies (ex.: leukaemia, lymphoma, myeloma e.t.c).

In cooperation with other hospital departments, (CT-scan, PET-CT,MRI, Scanning and laboratory) and with the marrow Transplantion Unit , the stem-cells cryopreservation and storage unit, the apheresis department at its disposal, the department can at any moment meet the needs of the patient and adopt any new therapeutical approach.

The collaboration with foreign hematological centres (Europe and USA), the participation in international protocols as well as in congresses contribute determinatively to the achievement of the Hematology department goals.
