Pediatric Postgraduate Event

All the latest developments in the diagnosis and treatment of various pediatric conditions will be discussed during the Pediatric Postgraduate Event, organized for the 11th year running by MITERA Children’s Hospital, a member of HYGEIA Group. The event will be held on Saturday November 19, 2016 at the N. Louros Conference Center, located within MITERA Hospital.

The event aims at providing information to pediatricians on very important and interesting pediatric issues, which they must be aware of to better perform any pediatric procedures. The topics that will be discussed include digestive tract problems, such as investigating and treating infants and children with feeding problems, as well as indications for administering special therapeutic milk products. A speech will also be given on newborn hearing screening and its usefulness in the early diagnosis of hearing loss and, by extension, in the prevention of speech disorders in children.

Other issues that will be raised include the excessive use of dietary supplements in adolescents and indications on when to use them, as well as infection-related issues. The speech on the Zika virus and whether it poses a threat to Greece is expected to draw plenty of attention. New techniques for fast detection of infectious agents will also be discussed.

The event is being organized by Ms Evangelia Lagona, Associate Professor of Pediatrics at the University of Athens & Scientific Director at MITERA Children’s Hospital, and her associates and it is open to the public.
