MITERA Joins Forces with Aretaieion Hospital 2nd Obstetrics / Gynecology University Clinic

MITERA Hospital and the Aretaieion Hospital 2nd Obstetrics / Gynecology University Clinic are joining forces to conduct theoretical and interactive hands-on seminars on Endoscopic Gynecologic Surgery for young doctors, as announced during a joint press conference held at the Small Auditorium of Aretaieion Hospital on 12 February 2020.

This partnership aims to train and familiarize young specialists with all the latest techniques in minimally invasive gynecologic surgery.

Specifically, two 3-day training seminars will take place in 2020. The first is scheduled for Thursday 21 May 2020 and is entitled “Educational Seminar on Diagnostic & Interventional Hysteroscopy”. Participants will receive training on the entire range of hysteroscopy surgery, while they will also get a chance at hands-on practice during live hysteroscopy procedures, guided be acclaimed experts. The second is entitled “Seminar on Clinical Cardiotocography & Fetal Monitoring” and will take place in partnership with the Swedish Society for Obstetrics and Gynecology, the Swedish Association of Midwives and the Swedish Neonatal Society. The practical and hands-on part of the seminars will be hosted at the N. Louros Conference Center, MITERA Hospital. Attendance Certificates will be awarded at the end of the seminars.

Commenting on this partnership, Mr Stefanos Chandakas, Obstetrician/Gynecologist, Endoscopic Surgeon and Member of the MITERA Scientific Council, noted, “In the over 40 years it has been operating, MITERA has carried out significant research and scientific work. It has been organizing postgraduate internship programs for young doctors on minimally invasive gynecologic surgery since 2011. Paving the way yet again, MITERA is the first private hospital to join forces with the renowned Aretaieion University Hospital in Greece, as part of the modern approach it has adopted towards the training of young doctors. We are hoping that this partnership will signal the start of further similar initiatives.”

On his part, Mr Nikolaos Vlachos, Director of the 2nd Obstetrics / Gynecology Clinic of the Athens University Medical School, Aretaieion Hospital, added, “We are pleased to announce the official partnership of our Clinic with HYGEIA Group, with the aim of organizing joint training programs for our young colleagues, supporting lifelong learning and education, and improving the care and health services offered to patients overall. We are hoping that this initiative marks the beginning of a partnership between the 2nd Obstetrics / Gynecology Clinic and the private sector for the provision of quality training on practical matters surrounding our specialty.”
