HYGEIA: Distinguished Seminars by the Heart Center

As part of its efforts to provide premium medical services, but also serve science and education, HYGEIA Hospital is hosting an annual series of educational seminars by the Heart Center, with highly acclaimed scientists from both Greece and abroad participating.

Professor Panagiotis Vardas, HYGEIA Group Heart Center Coordinator, is organizing the 8 distinguished seminars for the 2018-2019 academic year. The seminars will be held at the N. Louros Conference Center, MITERA Hospital, and cater for all practicing cardiologists who are interested in the latest clinical developments and the rapidly expanding challenges in the area of cardiovascular medicine.

The 2nd seminar is taking place on Wednesday October 31, 2018 at 19:00 and will run for 3 hours. It will focus on the extremely significant topic of transcatheter heart valves. The participation of internationally acclaimed Professor Francesco Maisano from the University Hospital of Zürich is expected to elevate the scientific discussion.

Note that HYGEIA Hospital has been recognized as a Center of Excellence and a Training Center for its Transcatheter Valve Program by one of the leading manufacturers of medical devices worldwide. The HYGEIA Hospital Transcatheter Heart Valve Department performs the largest number of transcatheter aortic valve implantations (TAVI) in Greece, while it was the first center in the country to introduce transcatheter mitral valve failure repairs using the MitraClip system. It is also the only Department offering transcatheter mitral valve implantations and tricuspid valve repairs. To date, it has performed more than 1,000 transcatheter implantations / heart valve repairs with excellent results. All transcatheter procedures are safely performed at the HYGEIA Hospital state-of-the-art Hybrid Operating Room, the first to operate in Greece.
