02 March 2022

Once again HYGEIA has become part of the leading community of the 31 Most Sustainable Companies in Greece 2022, according to the annual assessment results on the sustainable development of businesses based on ESG criteria, as announced recently by the QualityNet Foundation. This distinction is testament to HYGEIA’s unwavering commitment in applying a sustainable development model, with a deep sense of respect for people and the environment.

The 31 model companies stood out based on the technical assessment of their performances in various fields of action by the Sustainability Performance Directory. They are the select business representatives of sustainable development in Greece and the ambassadors of a new sustainable development model domestically and abroad.

Driven by sustainability and remaining true to the fundamental principles and values that have been defining its course for over 50 years, HYGEIA has been consistently and responsibly investing in a better and more sustainable future for all the more people. Aiming to serve as an example for Greek entrepreneurship, by offering leading and advanced medical services, HYGEIA actively demonstrates that it rightly belongs among the companies that are shaping the sustainable development landscape in Greece, through a series of innovative actions and initiatives.

Specifically, HYGEIA carries out an annual assessment of the environmental impact of the services it offers, aspiring to continuously reduce the ecological footprint of its activities, paying particular attention to waste management. To this end, it has prepared and applies a Hazardous Substances & Waste Management Plan, which includes the procedures that must be in place for handling, storing, transporting and disposing the hazardous substances and waste produced during the operation of the hospital.

In addition, HYGEIA offers essential support to the in action for a better world initiative, which was distinguished by the European Commission in the European Sustainability Awards 2019 as the best nonprofit program in Europe to promote the UN Sustainable Development Goals.

This action aims to raise awareness and activate the society, and especially the students, through the educational process. To this end, HYGEIA has created educational material on “Better health for a better life”. Further focusing on social contribution and solidarity, it promotes various volunteer initiatives, which form an integral part of the Group’s corporate governance and culture.

Commenting on HYGEIA being among the 31 most sustainable companies in Greece, the HYGEIA Chairman and CEO, Mr. Andreas Kartapanis, stated, “Making an essential contribution to the economic and productive restructuring of our country has been our compass and guide at HYGEIA, throughout our 50-year course. Being among the leading team of the 31 Most Sustainable Companies in Greece 2022 proves as best possible our firm commitment to disseminate the benefits of all our actions to the community, by applying a comprehensive and sustainable growth model. Maintaining the same guidelines, we will continue our efforts to build an inclusive future of growth and prosperity, paying particular attention to protecting the environment and preserving social cohesion.”
