HYGEIA Postgraduate Internship Program Ceremony February – June 2018

A ceremony marking the end of the latest Andreas Vgenopoulos Postgraduate Internship Program for the internal medicine and surgery clinics was held at HYGEIA Hospital on Wednesday June 6, 2018.

This 4-month program caters for young doctors who wish to specialize in internal medicine and surgery, and want to work as hospital physicians. Attendance certificates were conferred to the postgraduate physicians during the special event held at HYGEIA. Welcoming speeches were delivered by Mr Andreas Kartapanis, CEO; Mr Georgios Zacharopoulos, Chairman of the HYGEIA Scientific Council; Ms Effymia Vrakidou, Medical Service Director; and Mr Vasilis Prasopoulos, Chairman of the Scientific Union of HYGEIA Doctors.

During the event, Ms Roxani Efthimiadou, Director of the PET/CT Department and Deputy Director of the CT & MRI Department, referred to the developments in imaging techniques and their contribution to clinical practice in her speech entitled “Advances in Imaging”.

As part of the ceremony, the 2018 Excellence Award was awarded to Mr Christos Mourmouris, radiologist and associate of the HYGEIA CT & MRI and Osteoporosis Departments. Mr Ioannis Andreou, Director of the HYGEIA & MITERA Imaging Departments, talked about Mr Mourmouris, noting,  “Our colleague Christos Mourmouris has been working with us at HYGEIA for many years. He is an excellent radiologist, with vast knowledge on online and IT platforms, as well as other technologies used in medical imaging. He knows how to appreciate and choose the right tools and has an eye in the future. His association with the HYGEIA Hospital CT & MRI Department is a major advantage for us. It is important that the people working in such an environment have a grasp of technology and understand which methods will prevail, when and how. In the years we have been working together, all of us, radiologists and clinical doctors, have described him as one of the best doctors in our hospital, in terms of his knowledge and ethical demeanor.”
