The 1st International Forum on Biotechnology and Cancer in Athens took place on November 4-5, 2011. Mr Paris Kosmidis, Pathologist-Oncologist and Director of HYGEIA Hospital’s 2nd Oncology Clinic, was the chairman of the Forum, which was attended by a great number of HYGEIA Group physicians and executives.
It was immensely successful as more than 750 people participated in the event. Given the success of the Forum, the efforts in the field will continue with the hosting of a 2nd Biotechnology and Cancer Forum in the near future.
The Forum focused on the modern applications in biosciences, the new developments in the areas of health, the environment, nutrition, IT and energy, and how they relate to cancer. Special attention was given to treatment developments based on biosciences, as well as targeted therapies. In the modern scientific world, biosciences are considered cutting-edge technology, ready to be used in practice. They aim at improving the people’s quality of life, as well as improving the quality of life and lifespan of patients.
The Forum aimed at bringing together scientists working on cancer, so that they may succeed in preventing, diagnosing and treating the disease through bioscience knowledge.
