A new surgical approach to Obesity and Type 2 Diabetes was presented at a Scientific Meeting on Metabolic Surgery held at Hilton Hotel on Saturday July 5, 2008. The Meeting was organized by HYGEIA Hospital and was attended by distinguished scientists from the USA and Greece.
“Metabolic Surgery is the new invasive approach for treating morbid obesity, which is accompanied by metabolic complications that affect millions of patients worldwide. The complications mainly relate to Type 2 Diabetes, but may also include serious complications in the heart, eyes, joints and general health. This is about a new diabetes-free life, rather than a diabetes-controlled life,” noted Professor Dimitris Linos, Chairman of the Meeting and Director of HYGEIA Hospital’s 1st Surgical Clinic.
