HYGEIA participated in the World Health Organization (WHO) campaign “Clean Hands Save Lives” for the 5th year running. The campaign aims at safeguarding the health and safety of patients at healthcare facilities. This year, the efforts focused on raising awareness as much as possible among healthcare professionals and the general public.
Many relevant events were organized throughout the Hospital, while this was the first time ever the actions also tried to involve the patients and their visitors. The initiative “Ask me about hand hygiene” was very positively received.
On 5/5/2014, the World Hand Hygiene Day, the one-day event concluded with a scientific meeting, where the chairman and members of the HYGEIA Infections Control Committee talked about monitoring and controlling hospital infections.
At the end of the event, teams of healthcare professionals who contributed greatly to promoting hand hygiene were honored. The individuals who received honorary badges included the physicians of the hand hygiene monitoring teams and the nursing staff of the Outpatient Clinics.
