The 6th International Shoulder Seminar “Athens Shoulder Course 2024” was successfully concluded

The 6th International Shoulder Seminar “Athens Shoulder Course 2024”, one of the largest and most successful medical conferences in Europe, with 352 participants and more than 100 Greek and foreign speakers and instructors, some of the world’s leading orthopedic surgeons specializing in shoulder surgery, was successfully concluded.

The International Seminar was organized by the 3rd Orthopedic Clinic of HYGEIA in collaboration with the Italian (SIAGASCOT) and French (SFA) Arthroscopic Societies, under the auspices of, among others, HEAL Academy, the educational academy of the Hellenic Healthcare Group.

Participants had the opportunity to attend specialized lectures and interesting presentations by some of the most experienced shoulder surgeons on current issues and the latest techniques. At the same time, they watched the highly impressive “Mini Battles” & “Debates” on different ways of treating the same conditions.

In addition, the seminar included the projection of taped surgeries and the presentation of innovative methods by the presenters themselves to illustrate the difficulties encountered and their immediate treatment. The educational experience of the participants was completed with the practical application on cadaveric preparations of the most modern techniques of arthroscopic and open shoulder surgery with specific methods, which was performed at the ATTC, one of the most advanced surgical training centers in Europe.

In the framework of the Athens Shoulder Course and in parallel with it, the Special Physio Workshop was held for the 3rd year with international participation. The workshop was addressed to physiotherapists and was dedicated to the global presentation of the conditions from a surgical point of view and the in-depth presentation of rehabilitation modalities in each case.

The President of the “Athens Shoulder Course”, Mr. Emmanouil Antonogiannakis, Orthopedic Surgeon, Director of the 3rd Orthopedic Clinic of HYGEIA, states: “In order to promote Orthopedic Science and the Art of Surgery, you must exchange views with your colleagues, share your experience, seek better solutions to your patients’ problems and transfer your experience to your younger colleagues so that they can effectively apply the latest practices. We are very fortunate that all these personalities are coming to our country at a time when Orthopedics is changing at the speed of light due to its interaction with technological advances.”

For his part, the President of the Organizing and Scientific Committee of the Seminar, Mr. Emmanouil Brilakis, Orthopedic Surgeon, Deputy Director of the 3rd Orthopedic Clinic of HYGEIA, said:  “Every year we try to host in Greece specialized Orthopedic Surgeons from all over the world to share their knowledge, experience and concerns. Furthermore, we aim to establish a ‘common language’ with our Physiotherapists, explaining modern surgical techniques and learning from them the latest developments in the art of rehabilitation”.
