HYGEIA: New Nephrology Center Established
18 July 2019
HYGEIA Hospital, committed to its vision for the continuous improvement of the quality of the provided services and for the implementation of the most modern and innovative therapies for its patients, has established a state-of-the-art Nephrology Center.
The Center for Diagnosis, Treatment & Research of Kidney Diseases is staffed with qualified physicians, experienced in all disciplines of Nephrology. It offers diagnosis, treatment and follow-up of patients with kidney diseases, with or without normal kidney function (renal failure).
Specifically, the Center has set up a Nephrology clinic for the hospitalization of patients with kidney problems and two Outpatient Clinics (a glomerulonephritis clinic and a chronic kidney disease / chronic renal failure clinic) for outpatient follow-up. The first of these clinics specializes in patients with glomerular diseases of any cause (primary or as a result of systemic diseases – e.g. systemic lupus erythematosus, vasculitis, etc. – or diabetes mellitus) and patients with hereditary diseases with kidney involvement (e.g. polycystic kidney disease, Fabry disease, etc.). The second clinic specializes in patients with severe or advanced kidney disease. The Center also offers nephrology consultation services for patients hospitalized in other Departments or Clinics of the hospitals of the HYGEIA Group, in close cooperation with their treating physicians.
As Dr. Christos Iatrou, Director of the HYGEIA Hospital Center for Diagnosis, Treatment & Research of Kidney Diseases, noted, “The HYGEIA Nephrology Center offers all the conventional and established treatment methods for managing kidney problems. In addition, we have also forged international affiliations with leading research centers abroad, as well as with organizations active in the fields of biotechnology and regenerative medicine. Our goal is to offer to our patients the most modern and innovative treatments available for the management of chronic kidney disease.”
