HYGEIA Group: Interactive Surgery Classes by the American College of Surgeons at HYGEIA Group
22 May 2019
HYGEIA Group, in partnership with the American College of Surgeons and 20 internationally acclaimed scientists, gave 50 Greek students of Medicine the chance to participate in a program of interactive classes on various surgical topics, at no extra cost.
The classes are interactive, with the audience participating directly and receiving feedback on their right (or wrong) choices in a series of case reports. The speakers who participated in the educational seminar were selected both due to their medical specialty in relation to the topic being taught, and due to their personal experience with medical training in the USA.
This year’s series of 12 weekly classes will be concluded on Thursday 23 May 2019. Cardiac Surgery Professor Afksendiyos Kalangos will attend the closing event and attendees will have the chance to hear all about his well-known charity work. Then each student will receive a copy of the book Current Surgical Diagnosis & Treatment and an attendance certificate from the American College of Surgeons.
As Professor Dimitris Linos, Director of Academic Activities at HYGEIA Group noted, “This contribution by HYGEIA Group to train Greek surgery students comes to complement the Group’s academic activities, which assist in supporting medical education in Greece.”
