The Hellenic Society of Gynecologic Oncology and the 3rd Department of Gynecologic Oncology HYGEIA Hospital successfully organized the 3rd MISGO (Minimally Invasive Surgery in Gynecologic Oncology) Seminar – Current Advances in Gynecologic Oncology, held at the N. Louros Conference Center, MITERA Hospital, on the 10th and 11th of May 2019.
Distinguished speakers from Greece and UK honored the event. The Conference aimed to inform the medical community on all the latest progress achieved in treating patients who have been diagnosed with gynecologic cancer.
All the developments in gynecologic oncology, innovative methods for radically treating advanced ovarian cancer and minimally invasive surgical approaches (laparoscopy and robotic surgery) were presented in detail. Special issues such as the sentinel lymph node in endometrial and cervical cancer and cases of cancer in young women who wish to maintain and preserve their fertility, were discussed thoroughly. With the help of clinical and medical oncologists, the audience was informed on all the latest in adjuvant therapies, which aim to increase life expectancy and improve the patient’s quality of life.
As noted by Dr. Nikos Akrivos, Head of the Scientific Program and Director of the 3rd Department of Gynecologic Oncology HYGEIA Hospital, “The scientific developments in gynecologic oncology and the constant inflow of information allow us to choose the best treatment for each individual case, always respecting the wishes and distinct features of each patient. Greece has the infrastructure and suitably trained medical staff in place to provide high quality services in gynecologic oncology.”
