HYGEIA Paves the Way in Medical Training with Robotic Orthopedic Surgery

In the context of the European Training Program on Robotic Orthopedic Surgery, doctors from the United Arab Emirates and Saudi Arabia were invited to HYGEIA Hospital on March 21, 2019 to receive training on robotic orthopedic surgery.

The training session was carried out by the HYGEIA Hospital 2nd Orthopedic Clinic, headed by its Director, Mr Konstantinos Dretakis. Mr Dretakis is an approved robotic orthopedic trainer based in the USA. He trains and certifies orthopedic surgeons in Europe and other countries, such as Israel and Russia.

During their visit, the doctors had the chance to observe robotic procedures on patients during live surgeries. The procedures were performed using the extremely precise and effective Mako robotic system installed at HYGEIA, the only FDA-approved robotic system that ensures individualized treatment for the knee and hip. The doctors also participated in theory classes.

In an extremely specialized field such as robotic surgery, Greece is at the forefront of global medical developments, exporting technical know-how.
