European Conference on Shoulder Conditions: Athens Shoulder Course

The latest trends and innovative techniques in the area of shoulder conditions were presented at the 3-Day European Conference Athens Shoulder Course. The event was jointly hosted by the 3rd Orthopedic Clinic of HYGEIA Hospital and the Department of Anatomy and Surgical Anatomy of Athens University Medical School. It ran from January 26 to 28, 2017.
Many distinguished Greek and European scientists were invited to speak at the event, which was attended by orthopedic surgeons and physiotherapists from Greece, Europe and Asia. The Athens Shoulder Course was held under the auspices of the European Society of Sports Traumatology, Knee Surgery and Arthroscopy (ESSKA), the International Society of Arthroscopy, Knee Surgery and Orthopaedic Sports Medicine (ISAKOS), the Hellenic Association of Arthroscopy and the Hellenic Association of Orthopaedic Surgery and Traumatology (HAOST).
The venue for the theoretical part of the event was the N. Louros Conference Center, located at MITERA Hospital. The practice sessions were held at the Athens Medical School Anatomy Lab, on cadaveral specimens.
The Director of 3rd Orthopedic Clinic, of the HYGEIA Hospital ,Dr Emmanouil Antonogiannakis, noted, “Our Department offers scientifically sound, cutting-edge services to patients suffering from orthopedic conditions or injuries, focusing mainly on the shoulder. These ensure accurate diagnosis as well as fast and effective treatment, while causing the least possible inconvenience to patients. Our role is two-fold. On a scientific level, our aim is to find new, even more efficient solutions, by monitoring the latest developments globally and introducing innovative practices to Greece. On an educational level, our aim is to train and prepare conscientious and efficient doctors by viewing the patient as a whole.”
