HYGEIA: Innovative Subcutaneous Defibrillator Implantation at HYGEIA

HYGEIA has recorded another milestone, paving the way yet again in the area of private healthcare in Greece and continuing to be the key player in the sector, with credibility and a deep sense of respect for people and the gift of life.

Only recently, Dr Dimosthenis Katritsis, Director of the 3rd Cardiology Clinic at HYGEIA Hospital, along with his team, successfully performed the first implantation of a subcutaneous defibrillator on a patient with pectus carinatum.

The leadless subcutaneous defibrillator is quite a significant technological advancement in the treatment of sudden arrhythmic death.

It is the first procedure of its kind to be performed in a private hospital in Greece and the third worldwide on a patient with pectus carinatum.

This innovative procedure forms proof of the quality services offered by the HYGEIA Heart Center.
