For the second year running, HYGEIA awarded a scholarship to a top medical graduate, dedicated to the memory of the late surgeon Panagiotis Sakellariadis. The procedure for selecting the scholarship holder among all the potential candidates was conducted based on the terms and conditions set out in the relevant announcement issued by HYGEIA, with Mr Evangelos Oikonomou ranking at the top among all HYGEIA graduates for 2016.
Honors student Evangelos Oikonomou has graduated from the Athens University Faculty of Medicine and works at the University of Oxford Cardiovascular Clinical Research Facility. He plans to specialize in cardiology and cardiovascular research in general, pursuing his research interests along with his clinical training.
During a ceremony held before HYGEIA Hospital’s administrative and scientific staff, CEO Mr Andreas Kartapanis congratulated Mr Oikonomou, further adding, “At HYGEIA, we honor excellence and we reward it, in memory of the late HYGEIA physician Panagiotis Sakellariadis, who was a true teacher, leaving behind excellent students who excel at our Hospital.”
The CEO awarded the €10,000 scholarship to the honors graduate, who thanked the Hospital Management for their kind offer. He further noted, “This scholarship is a great honor for me and I hope you continue supporting young doctors.”
