ERUS Master Class on Robotic Prostatectomy

An ERUS Master Class on Robotic Prostatectomy was held at the Athens Hilton Hotel on Friday February 28, 2011. It is the first international scientific event held in Greece on robotic-assisted radical prostatectomy, under the aegis of the Hellenic Urological Society, the European Association of Urology and the European Robotic Urological Society (ERUS).
The event was organized by HYGEIA Hospital’s 2nd Urology Clinic and the Doctors’ Hospital Urology Clinic and included guest speakers specializing in the field of robotic surgery in Europe.
The Director of HYGEIA Hospital’s Urology Clinic, Mr E. Panagiotou, noted, “This is the first remarkable effort by two private urology clinics, supported by the Hellenic Urological Society, for constructive discussion and exchange of views and opinions on robotic-assisted radical prostatectomy. The aim is to further improve both the oncologic and the functional results (incontinence and erectile dysfunction) of surgery. Radical prostatectomy is the most commonly applied and most effective treatment for locally confined prostate cancer. More than 500 Da Vinci robotic-assisted radical prostatectomies have been performed at HYGEIA Hospital, more than any other hospital in Greece, with excellent results, oncologic and functional, similar to those of the best medical centers in Europe.
