2nd International Athens Shoulder Course by the HYGEIA Hospital 3rd Orthopedic Clinic
24 January 2018
The HYGEIA Hospital 3rd Orthopedic Clinic is organizing the international Athens Shoulder Course for a second year running. This year, the event is multinational, as it is jointly organized with the Italian Society of Arthroscopy (Societa Italiana di Arthroscopia). The seminar aims to offer comprehensive and well-rounded knowledge to Greek and foreign orthopedic surgeons on new innovative techniques for shoulder surgery.
It includes interesting lectures on all the issues currently occupying shoulder surgeons. Distinguished Greek orthopedic surgeons and some of the most experienced European shoulder surgeons have been invited as guest speakers. The seminar also includes live broadcasts of surgeries, with the aim of highlighting difficulties that may arise and how to manage them in real time. It further offers participants the chance to get acquainted with latest arthroscopy and open surgery techniques for shoulder surgery through hands-on cadaver practice. These are the reasons why the Athens Shoulder Course is considered one of the most successful orthopedic seminars in Europe.
The Course will take place in Athens on 1, 2 and 3 February 2018. The theoretical part will be hosted in the N. Louros Conference Center, MITERA Hospital, while the practice sessions will be held at the Athens University Medical School Anatomy Lab.
The Chairman of the Athens Shoulder Course, Mr Emmanouil Antonogiannakis – Orthopedic Specialist and Director of the 3rd Orthopedic Clinic at HYGEIA Hospital with long experience in shoulder surgery –noted, “Our key aim is to exchange views with our colleagues, share our experience and anguish for our patients, and disseminate our knowledge to our younger colleagues, so they may efficiently apply the latest techniques.”
The Head of the Organizing and Scientific Committee, Mr Emmanouil Brilakis, Orthopedic Specialist and Registrar of the 3rd Orthopedic Clinic at HYGEIA Hospital, further added, “This year we aim to organize a seminar on par with the best European medical events. The support of the European Society of Sports Traumatology, Knee Surgery and Arthroscopy, the International Society of Arthroscopy, Knee Surgery and Orthopedic Sports Medicine, and the numerous foreign orthopedic specialists attending the event genuinely reward our efforts and make us proud.”
