Professor Dimitrios Spigos honored with the distinguished scientist award

The University of Illinois honored our associate Dimitrios Spigos, Professor Emeritus of Radiology at the University of Ohio and Scientific Consultant at the MITERA & HYGEIA Hospital Mammography Imaging Department, with the distinguished scientist award, during a ceremony held at Willis Tower, Chicago, on September 8, 2013.

This honorary distinction recognizes the Professor’s pioneering contribution in the field of interventional radiology. Dr Spigos has worked on splenic embolization, ultrasound-guided kidney biopsy and use of catheters for collection of abdominal cavity fluids.

The University also endowed a scholarship in the name of Dimitrios Spigos, which will be given to one student every year and will cover expenses for interventional radiology research.
